JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of this position is responsible for receiving, storing and controlling stock items from suppliers and to issue to departments and / or contractors. To safe guard company assets by the overall management of the company stock and the usage thereof
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Inventory/Stock management

  • Ensure stock is kept organised and secure
  • Responsible for supporting the Supervisor in the safe and efficient running of the stores facilities
  • Working as part of a team with other department representatives and ensuring full stores support is supplied to line and department
  • Receive, distribute and return stock where applicable and ensure transactions are correctly recorded in the Software system
  • Conduct diesel stock count daily and stores items periodically and prepare reconciliation
  • Ensure that spares are distributed as per maintenance schedules
  • Ensure critical spares are always available
  • Assisting in the development of all stores systems and processes to cope with the demands of a growing and dynamic company

SHE Practices

  • Providing professional, operational, and safety supervision and leadership to stores trainees and apprentices;
  • Upholding the standards of the company and working in-line with the company objectives
  • Ensuring constant improvements in safety and performance standards
  • Ensure compliance and adherence to Stores and SHE policies, procedures and best practices and report any irregularities

Housekeeping

  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping to ensure a clean and organised stores and diesel environment
  • Report any suspected wastage and theft

Staff management

  • Be able to manage the team.
  • Guide, lead, and direct subordinate staff so that they can achieve the objectives and targets set for them in respect of the quality and quantity of work carried out.
  • Appropriately allocate tasks as per the specified priorities
  • Ensure subordinates have all the relevant and necessary information and resources to understand instructions and execute their work
  • Ensure that labour productivity is maximised, and wastage is minimised.
  • Coach, mentor and develop staff as appropriate to improve performance and to enhance likelihood of career growth in subordinate staff.
  • Ensure compliance of subordinate staff to company policies, procedures and practices
  • Establish a positive work context for subordinate staff to build motivation and team spirit.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE / MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Preferable tertiary qualification Degree or Diploma in Procurement/supply chain management
  • 5+ years’ experience in a procurement environment
  • Exposure to materials buying in a construction environment and knowledge of logistics handling.
  • Understanding of procurement procedures
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and relationships within a fast-paced, team oriented environment
  • Experience on inventory software systems
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of relevant company policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Experience with WTP, Water Retaining Pump stations, Reservoirs and Pipeline.
  • Valid drivers’ licence
