Business and financial results Management
- Provide input into departmental/divisional budget to ensure appropriate resource allocation in achievement of departmental goals
- Manage allocated budget through monitoring and seeking cost effective ways of achieving departmental goals
- Develop and implement a company-wide procurement strategy by considering the business requirements, company affordability (cost implications) and transformation targets to ensure appropriate delivery within the client’s governance framework
- Manage and report on metrics which indicate procurement performance levels and improve those performance levels over time
- Oversee execution of procurement-related activity to ensure that quality and legislative requirements are adhered to maximise opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvement by implementing appropriate initiatives such as automation, value add reporting and forecasting
- Build relationships with colleagues, peers and staff by using appropriate interpersonal styles
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to resolve escalated issues and ensure the end-to-end effectiveness of the procurement function
- Interact with others in a way that promotes openness and trust and gives them confidence in one’s intentions
- Maintain relationships with business and suppliers through active engagement and structured feedback processes to maximise business value through alignment of expectations
Process Management - Translate commercial strategy into department delivery activities and project plans to ensure execution
- Work within assigned budgets to departments for delivery against plans
- Create and implement clear staff and resource plans to deliver on the departmental goals
- Oversee procurement activities for the function ensuring a consistent and standardised approach to execution of purchases (including selection), management of suppliers and maintenance of vendor related master data
- Manage the end to end supplier relationship management process by implementing a structured process of business and supplier engagement to manage risk and ensure vendor performance
- Ensure the consistency of procurement processes across the client by ensuring that well-defined processes are communicated and understood across the business, and monitoring process compliance
- Develop and implement policies and processes for selecting and vetting suppliers by applying best practices to maximise value derived from the supplier base
- Contribute to the achievement of the company transformation plan by implementing processes that ensure that the achievement of set targets on supplier development and procurement is maximised
- Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand by consolidating procurement requirements across the business as per a well-defined demand management process
- Maintain the electronic purchase order system and ensure that it is fit for purpose by considering business needs and cost implications in order to ensure appropriate controls and accurate recording of spend
- Support the B-BBEE audit field work done by an independent verifier by maintaining information trail for procurement and supplier development elements of the scorecard
Transformation and Innovation Management - Analyse, research, develop and implement improvement/innovative ideas and value adding solutions contributing to divisional and company results
Team Management - Take accountability for making others successful by removing obstacles to team performance and success
- Participate in recruitment processes to ensure selection contributing to success of team
- Ensure self and team members has required skill and professional/ technical expertise by assessing gaps and development areas and creating development plans
- Ensure each team member has a job profile that profiles team member with a view of full performance in the job
- Create performance agreement for each team member with measurable goals and objectives so that they understand how their performance will be reviewed, recognised and rewarded
- Conduct performance review sessions with team members to review performance and progress against targets and agree on appropriate action required to meet targets or standards
- Engage with team in such a way that the feel motivated to achieve better performance feel respects and diversity valued
Stakeholder Relationship Management
- BCom Supply chain management/Business management or similar
- 8 or more years in procurement and supply chain management role
- Construction background and knowledge
- Experience in managing people
