JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of this position is to ensure daily planning of work such as maintenance and repairs on all Plant and equipment are carried out efficiently, managing of cost, budgets and ordering of material and spares to run the Workshop efficiently and manage the staff in the Workshop, ensuring that all safety policies and company procedures are followed and ensure all plant and equipment are correctly supplied and charged out accordingly.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Staff Supervision
- Assign work to employees ensuring the relevant materials and equipment is available
- Continuously examine and inspect work progress of subordinates
- Report any breakdowns, work stoppages or any other obstruction preventing works to proceed to the Stores & Logistic Manager.
- Monitor and manage the performance of subordinate staff in compliance with the Performance Management policy and processes
- Ensure training and development for subordinate staff occurs
- Mentor staff as appropriate to improve performance and to enhance likelihood of career growth in subordinate staff
- Practice sound labour relations within the approved conditions of service regarding staff including but not limited to:
- Maintaining discipline
- Managing and resolving employee grievances and welfare requirements
- Ensure compliance of subordinate staff to policies, procedures and practices
- Maintain a critical mass of staff ensuring effective staff retention
- Establish a positive work context for subordinate staff to build motivation and team spirit
Plant & Machinery
- Ensure that all deliveries which leaves the Workshop have been checked for accuracy of deliveries and safety of any hazard
- Monitor stock usage daily
- Monitor returned materials usage from sites
- Ensure the service schedule for all plant & machinery is ongoing
- Ensure reports for vehicles leaving the workshop are submitted and accurate
SHEQ Assurance, Compliance
- Ensure all materials which are delivered to the workshop are stacked in accordance with Safety regulations
- Inspect cleanliness and general housekeeping of the Workshop
- Ensure all legal requirements for Workshop safety, including the issue of safety equipment and clothing as well as the safety of working conditions, plant and equipment
- Monitor that corrective action is taken in respect of non-conformance
Meeting budgets and maintenance costs
- The forecasting of the six monthly and annual budget.
- Managing the Capex Budget
- Reporting on the profit & loss of the Workshop every month
- To execute any other tasks and activities as required from time to time by Senior Management
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE / MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- National Diploma or National Trade Certificate or Equivalent
- Construction regulation Training
- Legal liability Training
- At least 8 years’ experience in the construction industry
- Experience of construction on and off site.
- Must have experience in hiring of plant and equipment
