JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of this position is to weave steel and ensure correct fixing of rebar according to the bending schedule
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide leadership in fixing rebar

  • Effectively provide leadership for steel fixing
  • Ensure correct fixing of rebar according to the bending schedule.
  • Ensure the use of correct construction drawings
  • Ensure the correct drawing is being used.
  • Ensure adequate work space is always available

Effective self-management

  • Ensure tasks are prioritised and resources appropriately deployed and/or allocated
  • Escalation of identified problems to the foreman
  • Ensure good time keeping
  • Promote harmony and teamwork
  • Promote sharing of knowledge through informal and formal channels
  • Ensure to continuously develop own skills and knowledge as well as that of assistants

Effectively implement site health, safety, environment, and quality legislation

  • Ensure safe working practices on site at all times
  • Ensure total OSH Act compliance
  • Ensure all safety incident records accurately maintained
  • Ensure safety equipment are always available
  • Ensure safe work practices are adhered to
  • Ensure all safety inspections are done and registers completed
  • Ensure all required safety signage displayed throughout sites
  • Ensure continuously monitoring and measure safety practices and results
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE / MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • ABET 3/Grade 7
  • Steel fixer certificate.
  • Diploma/RPL
  • 3 or more years’ experience as a steel fixer.
  • Understanding of site environments.
  • Basic Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of relevant company policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Experience with WTP, Water Retaining Pump stations, Resevoirs and Pipeline.
  • Salary: To be negotiated
