- Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review and participate in the work of staff responsible for maintenance of plant including repair and installation of all Mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
- Establish schedules and methods for providing preventative maintenance and repair services; identify correct part requirements; review needs with appropriate management staff; allocate human and equipment resources accordingly.
- Participate in the development of policies and procedures; monitor work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures including safety, environmental, quality, HRD, etc and to make recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards and procedures.
- Recommend and assist in the implementation of maintenance goals and objectives; implement approved policies and procedures relating to maintenance.
- Assist mechanics in solving more technical and complex problems and implement a growth plan of his staff, provide required training programs that assist his staff on their daily duties.
- Supervise the performance of his staff and their KPI’s.
- Participate in the selection of plant maintenance staff; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures in line with site and the organization.
- Participate in the preparation and administration of the plant maintenance program budget; submit budget recommendations; monitor expenditures.
- Prepare analytical and statistical reports on operations and activities.
- Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of plant equipment maintenance.
- Education/Training, Minimum N4 Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and a valid Trade Test Certificate in the field of Earthmoving Equipment Mechanics.
- A supervisory effectiveness of a first line certificate will be an added advantage.
- Experience: 4 years post apprenticeship experience on Earthmoving Equivalent Mechanic and minimum 2 years on the role of charge hand or Supervisor.
- The incumbent employee must successfully pass a fitness test.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures.
- Knowledge of relevant company policies, processes, and procedures.
- Experience with WTP, Water Retaining Pump stations, Resevoirs and Pipeline.
- Valid drivers licence
