JOB SUMMARY
Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review and participate in the work of staff responsible for maintenance of plant including repair and installation of all Mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review and participate in the work of staff responsible for maintenance of plant including repair and installation of all Mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
  • Establish schedules and methods for providing preventative maintenance and repair services; identify correct part requirements; review needs with appropriate management staff; allocate human and equipment resources accordingly.
  • Participate in the development of policies and procedures; monitor work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures including safety, environmental, quality, HRD, etc and to make recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards and procedures.
  • Recommend and assist in the implementation of maintenance goals and objectives; implement approved policies and procedures relating to maintenance.
  • Assist mechanics in solving more technical and complex problems and implement a growth plan of his staff, provide required training programs that assist his staff on their daily duties.
  • Supervise the performance of his staff and their KPI’s.
  • Participate in the selection of plant maintenance staff; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures in line with site and the organization.
  • Participate in the preparation and administration of the plant maintenance program budget; submit budget recommendations; monitor expenditures.
  • Prepare analytical and statistical reports on operations and activities.
  • Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of plant equipment maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE / MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Education/Training, Minimum N4 Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and a valid Trade Test Certificate in the field of Earthmoving Equipment Mechanics.
  • A supervisory effectiveness of a first line certificate will be an added advantage.
  • Experience: 4 years post apprenticeship experience on Earthmoving Equivalent Mechanic and minimum 2 years on the role of charge hand or Supervisor.
  • The incumbent employee must successfully pass a fitness test.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of relevant company policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Experience with WTP, Water Retaining Pump stations, Resevoirs and Pipeline.
  • Valid drivers licence
